NIHONBASHI TEI

It was my immediate boss in the office who brought us in Nihonbashi Tei. She has tried it before and she said the prices are reasonable especially if you are in groups.

We made reservations before going.  I was surprised that we were given a room without any extra fees :-). we were just unlucky on the attendant / waitress that was assigned to us. She lacks PR. She basically just took our orders - didn't smile and quite sungit when my colleagues asked further questions about the menu.  Towards the end of our meal, another attendant who has good PR, assisted her which made things better. She even apologized on the attitude of her co-worker.

Among all our orders I liked the sushi platter and the salad. Well the rest is also good and edible.

Nihonbanshi Tei is located along 806 Arnaiz Avenue (Pasay Road),Makati City. (02) 818-8893

KA HEE RESTAURANT

I always find Korean food interesting. We took the risk and tried Ka Hee (Korean) Restaurant.  It was a good choice. I enjoyed all our orders and ate more than we should.

Good thing their menu have english translation, if not I am really lost. We actually talked to the Koreans, asking for explanation about their food. The one who initially approached us automatically referred us to another Korean who can speak Korean better. Hee hee.

Our first order was Bulgogi (beef seasoned with soy sauce) just to be on the safe side. When our order came, the sauce was on a separate container, we couldn't figure out what to do. We poured the sauce and it ended up leaking. Ha ha. At that point, we called the waitress. It should be pour the sauce on the side then mix the ones on top, you can cook the meat on top since it gets the direct heat (as shown on the second photo).  After tasting this, I can say this is the best Bulgogi I've tasted in my entire life :-)

My friend wanted noodles so we chose Janchi Guksu (Fiesta noodles). Again, we were ?? what's the Kimchi for? So we asked again, the Korean explained you can mix the spices and kimchi in the soup.  The spice was really spicey! I only added few drops in my bowl. When I tasted this Kimchi, it tasted different from the Kimchi appetizer that was initially served.  Then we learned that there are different types of Kimchi!! but I guess not being a Korean, I won't be able to distinguish one from another, all looks the same with me.

When our 3rd order was served.. Cha dol bak E (beef brisket point) Again, I was ??? whats the sauce for?  This time the meat needs to be grilled. Then after its been grilled, you can dip it in any of the sauce to match to your taste.

It looks like this restaurant is a family business. You can see Koreans helping out in taking orders and serving. Their place have less than 10 tables.  When we were there, I am sad that the tables aren't full considering that I find their food authentic and really good.

It's really worth a try and I like to visit their restaurant again.

HAPPY CREAM PUFF

I love cream puffs.... so when I saw a Happy Cream Puff in Makati, I automatically made a stop over and bought some.  Its been awhile since I last bought cream puffs.  I have no idea how much does a cream puff in other stores now costs..

I was taken aback by the prices of their cream puffs. The bite size is P20.00 each --woah. That's why I only bought 5 pieces.  Then I couldn't resist not to try the Strawberry Nama choux since I love strawberries.

For me, the caramel is still what I prefer compared to sprinkles strawberry petit puff. While the strawberry nama choux looks better than it takes like - I don't know why.  But it adds to the fact that its not the season for strawberries.

Happy cream puffs taste isn't that sweet compared to what it looks like. One will definitely end up having her second...third... fourth... servings.

Prices: Strawberry Nama Choux P110.00; Petit puffs P20.00. You get discounts if you buy at least 10 pcs.

Happy Cream Puff is located along Rada corner Dela Rosa Streets, Makati City. website: http://www.happycreampuff.com/
